How Do Alfa Laval Butterfly Valves Work?
Alfa Laval butterfly valves operate either manually or automatically, offering flexibility and precision in hygienic processes.
Automatic Operation
A pneumatic actuator, available in normally closed (NC), normally open (NO), or air/air activated (A/A) versions, converts axial piston motion into a 90° shaft rotation. As the valve disc contacts the seal ring, the actuator torque secures proper valve closure, ensuring reliable performance.
Manual Operation
A handle mechanically locks the valve in open or closed positions. Handles are available in various configurations, including two-position, four-position, regulating 90°, and multi-position. Optional indication units provide feedback on valve position (open/closed) for enhanced control.
