Alfa Laval Shutter Valves: Reliable and Hygienic Three-Way Flow Control
Alfa Laval shutter valves are compact and hygienic three-way valves designed to divert the flow of highly viscous products, liquids with particles, or fluids requiring minimal pressure loss. Engineered for the food, chemical, pharmaceutical, and other industries with high hygiene standards, these valves ensure efficient and reliable performance.

Key Features and Benefits:

  • Efficient Flow Control: Allows viscous liquids and liquids containing particles to flow easily with minimal pressure loss.
  • Hygienic Design: Simple, inline design integrates seamlessly into hygienic processing systems and supports thorough Cleaning-in-Place (CIP).
  • Durability and Ease of Use: Few moving parts and high-quality components ensure long-lasting performance and low maintenance.
  • Flexible Operation: Operates manually or with pneumatic actuators for easy and precise three-way routing of fluids.
  • Compact and Space-Saving: Ideal for applications requiring efficient use of space.

Alfa Laval shutter valves deliver reliable, safe, and low-maintenance flow control, ensuring uptime and efficiency in hygienic processes. Designed for ease of routing and thorough Cleaning-in-Place, they are the perfect solution for demanding applications requiring high hygiene and optimal fluid passage.

Alfa Laval Koltek Valves

The Alfa Laval Koltek Valve is a versatile valve that can be operated either manually or pneumatically. It is designed for use with highly viscous products, those containing large particles, or those with strict pressure loss requirements.

  • Flexible in-line valve with three-port flow diversion
  • Minimized pressure loss
  • Hygienic design
  • Capable of handling products highly viscous, contain large particles, or have strict requirements to minimize pressure loss

The koltek valve is designed for use in the food, chemical,
pharmaceutical and many other industries.

How Do Shutter Valves Work?

Alfa Laval shutter valves feature a rigid body with an internal cylindrical bore, a PTFE shutter, and three ports for pipe connections. The shutter is supported by an internal shaft positioned by guide rings in the valve lids, ensuring precise operation and complete tightness. A spring system presses the shutter against the cylindrical surface, providing reliable sealing.

The valves can be operated either manually using stainless-steel handles or automatically with pneumatic actuators powered by compressed air. Manual valves can include lateral indication units to show the valve position. For automated valves, actuators are available in single-acting or double-acting versions. The actuator uses a system of cylinders, pistons, and a toothed bar to interact with a gear wheel on the valve shaft, ensuring smooth operation.

Automated valves can also be equipped with Alfa Laval ThinkTop® V50 or V70 control units, or lateral indication units for remote monitoring of valve position. This versatile design ensures efficient and reliable flow control in hygienic processes.
